Job Description
*Community Options, Inc.* is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.
We are currently seeking a skilled *Director of Nursing *in *the Brooklyn, NY. The Director of Nursing leads a team, including RNs and LPNs,* for an assigned region to care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This person will support teams with day-to-day operations and challenges to meet the medical and healthcare needs of the individuals we support.
*Starting Salary: $130,000Responsibilities*
* Lead and train teams to support programmatic initiatives, goals, and the unique needs of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
* Manage team performance through effective communication, training, performance management, staff meetings, employee recognition, and internal control reviews
* Provide treatment and health care procedures ordered by a physician and required by the standards of professional practice or law
* Train staff on the healthcare needs, medical conditions, and plan of care for assigned individuals
* Develop and conduct comprehensive training programs
* Develop and update nursing care plans and health care plans with an interdisciplinary team to include any concerns, observations, and behavioral developments
* Ensure nursing protocols comply with state and board of nursing regulations and guidelines
* Ensure nurse assessments and program documentation are completed accurately and timely
* Monitor health and medical conditions of individuals and refer for medical services as needed
* Assess systemic risk management issues with the administration of medications
* Available after hours by phone for on call emergency telephone triage
* Assume regional RN responsibilities as needed
* Additional tasks and responsibilities may be assigned
* Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
* Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
*Minimum Requirements*
* Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field
* Valid RN license allowing you to practice in assigned state
* Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
* Minimum two years of experience as a registered nurse
* Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
* Knowledge of state regulatory agency operations and standards relevant to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
* Team-oriented with demonstrated leadership experience
* Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
* Ability to exercise good judgment and remain calm in crisis situations
* Proficient with Microsoft Office
* Experience working with electronic health record systems; Therap preferred
