Di Pietro Partners seeks a full-time intake paralegal for its Ft. Lauderdale office to assist attorneys with all aspects of a diverse and active litigation, specifically providing support during initial contact with potential clients and intake process for new clients and cases. The candidate for this position will be successful if they are able to execute a variety of secretarial duties of a confidential nature, have a general familiarity with the legal field and be able to adapt to a fast pace environment. These tasks will include speaking directly and frequently with potential and new clients, working with attorneys, paralegals and other members of the firm with a series of administrative and support functions. Therefore, the candidate will have to have a strong, professional presence on the phone and in e-mail, effective time management and organizational skills coupled with the ability to be detail-oriented, work well as a team and be self-motivated. 

Responsibilities

  • Handle calls from new potential clients to evaluate and ascertain actionable legal issues and strength of potential cases. Gather all information necessary for attorney to determine strengths and weaknesses of case and appropriateness of pursuing legal action. Setting up electronic files in our system for new cases. Sending and following up on retainer agreements and payments.
  • Administrative support functions such as sending formal notice of legal documents for attorneys, arranging for legal service of pleadings, managing legal pleadings (saving, filing internally and filing with the Court), drafting and sending correspondence and managing the phone system.
  • First point of contact/representative for clients
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent experience
  • Prior experience in the legal field
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Self-starter, Mac (Apple), Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
